Effective Communication Key to Good Governance-Kate Addo tells Parliament New Recruits
The Parliament of Ghana has welcomed a fresh batch of graduate recruits into its workforce, with a strong message from Madam Kate Addo, Coordinating Director of the Public Affairs Department, on the vital role of communication in enhancing governance.
Speaking during the 2025 Parliamentary Service Graduate Training Program, Madam Addo delivered a detailed presentation on communication and interpersonal skills, underscoring their importance in the smooth functioning of Parliament.
She urged the new recruits, drawn from diverse academic and professional backgrounds, to prioritize clarity, precision, and professionalism in both verbal and written exchanges, whether interacting with senior leadership, colleagues, or external stakeholders.

Madam Addo emphasized that parliamentary staff must remain neutral and objective, particularly when handling sensitive matters, as their conduct directly affects the institution’s credibility.
She noted that effective communication is not just a professional skill but “a vehicle for building trust, promoting transparency, and ensuring accountability in governance. Communication is the lifeblood of democracy.”

The new recruit staff, which is part of Parliament’s efforts to strengthen institutional capacity, will undergo extensive training in legislative processes, research, administrative protocols, and public service ethics.
The new staff members are expected to contribute fresh energy and ideas to the Parliamentary Service, supporting its vision of a modern, people-centered legislature.
They are to undergo three months intensive training on various fields of institutional discipline with resourced persons from key government public and civil services institutions.
