Krachi Nchumuru DCE Prioritizes Education, Water and Roads; Denies Rift with MP
The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Krachi Nchumuru in the Oti Region, Hon. Martin Kofi Anato, has pledged to tackle pressing developmental challenges in the district, focusing on education, potable water, and road infrastructure.
Speaking to members of the Parliamentary Press Corps after his appearance before the Parliamentary Select Committee on Local Government on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, in Accra, Hon. Anato outlined his development agenda and dismissed reports of strained relations between him and the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Hon. Solomon Kuyon.
“There is no problem between my brother, Hon. Kuyon, and myself. After I lost the party’s internal primaries, I moved around with him during the 2024 elections, and we even embarked on a Thank-You tour together just three weeks ago,” he clarified.
“We often speak, exchange messages, and support each other. Perhaps the misunderstanding is about how frequently we engage, but I want to place on record that I have no issues with him. I love to work with him,” the DCE added.
On his vision for the district, Hon. Anato said leadership was about meeting the needs of the people and ensuring their comfort and hope.
He revealed that several projects were already underway, including:Three classroom blocks, one kindergarten bloc, Six-unit primary school blocks, a three-unit junior high school block and Two CHPS compounds.

Hon. Anato also acknowledged the district’s acute water challenges, despite being surrounded by water bodies, stressing the importance of drilling more boreholes to provide safe drinking water.
To mitigate the impact, the DCE said ten boreholes, in addition to the 67 boreholes being constructed by the MP, of which 40 have already been completed.
Addressing concerns about delays in project implementation, Mr. Anato explained that funds released for development cannot be spent without following due procurement processes.
“It is not about keeping money; it is about doing the right thing. Procurement procedures take time, but contractors are already on the ground working,” he assured.
On Internally Generated Funds (IGF), Hon. Anato noted that mobilization was previously hampered by lack of logistics.
To address this, his office has procured three new motorbikes to support revenue collection, describing the last quarter of the year—October to December—as the “miracle months” to boost local revenue for the district.
While road construction falls outside the immediate capacity of the district assembly, Hon. Anato expressed optimism, citing assurances from President John Dramani Mahama and ongoing engagements between the MP and the Roads Ministry to secure improvements to the district’s road network.
“With the trust the President and the Local Government Minister have placed in me, I am determined to deliver on my mandate and ensure that the people of Krachi Nchumuru benefit from real development,” the DCE affirmed.
