The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has reaffirmed Parliament’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and open governance, describing the media as an indispensable partner in Ghana’s democratic development.

​ Speaking at the Parliament Media Soiree and Recognition Night 2025, the Speaker acknowledged the Parliamentary Press Corps (PPC) as a vital link between the legislature and the public. He commended journalists for their dedication to accurate and ethical reporting, despite modern challenges such as misinformation and the demands of a rapidly evolving digital landscape. He emphasized that a free, professional, and independent media remains central to informed citizenship and effective democratic oversight.
​ Celebrating Excellence in Journalism
​ The event celebrated outstanding contributions across various platforms, highlighting the power of storytelling in simplifying complex legislative processes for public understanding. The following individuals were recognized for their excellence, integrity, and innovation:
​ Best Print Journalist: Ernest Kofi Adu (Daily Guide), Best Radio & TV Journalist: Kwaku Asante (Joy News), Best Radio & TV Journalist (Twi): Emmanuel Akorli (Peace FM), ​ Best Online Journalist: Elsie Appiah Osei (Ghana News Agency), Best Social Media Journalist: Frank Bruce (Odikuro)), Best Television Camera Person: Paul Egbenya (Citi FM / Channel One), Public Service Broadcasting: Racheal Quartey (GTV), Leadership and Long-Service Honors
​ The Dean of the Parliamentary Press Corps, Simon Agianab, received commendation for his exemplary leadership. Long-serving members Ahmed Osumanu Halid and Awudu Mahama were also honored for over 25 years of dedicated service to parliamentary journalism.
