In a landmark move for public health in the Madina  constituency, a state-of-the-art surgical theatre has been officially commissioned at the Madina Polyclinic–Kekele.

The project, spearheaded by the Member of Parliament for Madina, Hon. Dr. Francis-Xavier Sosu, marks a significant leap forward in the region’s medical capabilities, ensuring that high-quality surgical interventions are now within immediate reach of thousands of residents.

The commissioning ceremony was a high-profile diplomatic affair, featuring the Australian High Commissioner to Ghana, Her Excellency Bérénice Owen-Jones.

The collaboration highlights a successful synergy between local leadership and international partnership, with the Australian Government providing vital funding to bring the facility to fruition.

Dr. Sosu’s personal commitment to the project was equally substantial; the MP previously donated GH₵150,000 alongside a suite of advanced medical equipment to kickstart the construction and outfitting of the theatre.

During the event, Dr. Sosu emphasized that upgrading healthcare infrastructure is not merely a goal but a primary mission for his tenure.

He noted that the new facility would drastically reduce the need for constituents to travel long distances for critical procedures, effectively saving both time and lives.

This vision was echoed by Freedom-Aid Ghana, which also played a supportive role in delivering the facility to the community.

Mr. Emmanuel Asante, the Director of the Madina Polyclinic, expressed profound gratitude for the intervention, explaining that the theatre will allow the hospital to offer faster, more efficient surgical services than ever before.

Prior to this addition, the facility faced limitations in the complexity and volume of cases it could handle.

Now, the medical team is equipped to address the needs of Madina and its surrounding communities with modern precision.

The ceremony drew a diverse group of influential figures, including the Municipal Chief Executive, Alhaji Fusseini Faila, and the Municipal Director of Health, Efua Commeh.

Their presence underscored a unified front in the mission to bolster the municipality’s health safety net.

As the doors to the new theatre open, the Madina Polyclinic–Kekele stands ready to transition from a primary care center into a robust hub for comprehensive medical excellence.
