Bolga East DCE Outlines Key Priority Areas for Common Fund Allocation
The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bolgatanga East, Jacob Abugre Aka-Eri, has outlined the main priority areas for the district’s share of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), following the release of second-quarter allocations to Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs).
Speaking on the planned utilization of the funds, Mr. Aka-Eri said the district would strictly follow directives from the Ministry of Finance to ensure resources are invested in critical sectors that drive local development.
He explained that 10 percent of the DACF will be allocated to education, another 10 percent to health, and an additional 10 percent to sanitation. A further 25 percent has been earmarked for the government’s 24-hour economy model markets, while 20 percent will support legacy projects. The remaining 5 percent will fund administrative activities.
The DCE revealed that allocations for the 24-hour economy initiative and school furniture are currently on hold, pending final approval from the national headquarters.
“The 24-hour market project is expected to come with model market designs for districts to choose from,” he said. “We were recently in Accra, where four design options were presented. The choice will depend on each district’s financial capacity and expected revenue.”
Mr. Aka-Eri emphasized the importance of strong community involvement to ensure the smooth implementation of the outlined projects. He encouraged residents to remain engaged and supportive of the district’s development agenda.
“Community participation is crucial. We must work together to achieve the development goals of the district,” he emphasized.
