Ablekuma West MP Urges Students to Prioritise Their Books Over Phones as they Visit to Parliament
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ablekuma West, Rev. Dr. Kweku Addo, has encouraged pupils of Kindercare School Limited at Dansoman to remain committed to their studies, describing education as the surest path to success and national leadership.
According to the MP, many young people struggle to secure employment and progress in life because they failed to take their education seriously during their formative years.
Speaking to the pupils when they visited Parliament on an educational excursion, the Ablekuma West legislator urged them to develop a strong reading culture and avoid excessive attachment to mobile phones and social media activities.
“Your books are your best friends. If you stay focused on your education today, the future will reward you greatly. Many people regret not taking their studies seriously when they had the opportunity,” he advised.

He further cautioned the students against spending too much time on phones at the expense of academic work.
“Do not allow phones and social media to distract you from your dreams. Use your youthful years to build knowledge and discipline,” he added.
The MP said child education remains one of his key priorities, leading to support for brilliant but needy students to excel academically.
He stressed that investing in education and youth development remains essential to the future growth of the constituency and the country as a whole.
“The future of Ablekuma West depends on the children we nurture today. We must continue to support and guide them to become responsible citizens and transformational leaders,” the MP stated.
The parliamentary visit formed part of a civic education initiative aimed at exposing the pupils to Ghana’s democratic governance system while nurturing responsible and informed future citizens.
During the visit, the students toured the parliamentary chamber, observed live parliamentary proceedings and participated in an interactive session with Members of Parliament.
Other lawmakers who addressed the pupils included Hon Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe and Hon. Abdul-Rauf Tongym Tubazu, who encouraged the children to maintain discipline both at school and at home while aspiring to become future leaders of the country.
The delegation of 67 pupils was led by Assistant School Manager Nana Darko Otchere together with other teachers of the school.
The Ablekuma West MP also highlighted some of the interventions he has undertaken within the constituency since assuming office.
