GCB Bank Ushers in 2026 with National Thanksgiving Service
GCB Bank PLC gathered its leadership and workforce at the Accra International Conference Centre on Saturday, January 31, to observe its annual National Thanksgiving Service. The event served as a platform for reflection, spiritual renewal, and a collective expression of gratitude for the institution’s recent milestones.
The keynote sermon was delivered by Rev. Stephen Wengam, General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana, and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Ghana Immigration Service. Drawing inspiration from the biblical narrative in 2 Samuel 9, Rev. Wengam challenged attendees to remain humble and gracious in the face of professional success. He reminded the congregation that true achievement is a byproduct of divine favor and diligent effort rather than compromise. In a pointed message on ethics, he emphasized that wealth and prosperity do not require corrupt practices, advocating instead for a culture of integrity and hard work.
Reinforcing this message of excellence, the Managing Director of GCB Bank, Mr. Farihan Alhassan, took the stage to acknowledge the human element behind the bank’s performance. He praised the staff for their unwavering loyalty and commitment to duty, noting that their dedication remains the backbone of the bank’s operations. Looking toward the future, Mr. Alhassan expressed a firm optimism that the bank is positioned to reach even greater heights throughout the coming years.
The atmosphere of the service was further elevated by spirited musical performances. The Tehilla Cedars of the Cedar Mountain Chapel brought a vibrant energy to the auditorium, followed by a headline performance from renowned gospel artist Nacee, whose ministry capped off the morning of celebration.
The event was well-attended by members of the Board of Directors, senior management, and staff from across the country, signaling a unified start for the bank as it navigates the 2026 financial year
