Assembly Members in the Ellembelle District in the Western Region have strongly denied claims that they have petitioned the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources over an alleged dispute involving Adamus Resources Limited, describing the reports as entirely false and misleading.

In a rejoinder issued to address the publication, the Members said they were neither aware of nor involved in any such petition, and insisted no discussions or actions had been taken in relation to the purported dispute.

“Our attention has been drawn to a publication alleging that Assembly Members have petitioned the Minister over a supposed dispute involving Adamus Resources Limited. We wish to categorically state that this publication is false, misleading, and without any basis in fact,” the statement said.

The Members stressed that at no point had they, either collectively or individually, initiated or participated in any petition to the Minister.

They further dismissed suggestions of tensions between local communities and the mining company, maintaining that no such dispute exists.

“There is no ongoing dispute between the communities and Adamus Resources Limited that warrants escalation to the Minister. The situation within the area remains calm and stable,” the statement emphasized.

They warned that the publication amounted to a distortion of facts capable of creating unnecessary panic within otherwise peaceful communities, and cautioned media outlets against spreading unverified information.

“Such false reports have the potential to create unnecessary tension and misinform the public. We urge the general public to disregard this misinformation and treat it with the contempt it deserves,” the Assembly Members stated.

The group also called on journalists and media platforms to uphold professional standards by verifying information before publication, noting that inaccurate reporting not only misleads the public but can also unfairly cast aspersions on public officials.

The rejoinder was jointly endorsed by several Assembly Members, including Hon. Banabas Ewereko of the Asasetre Ebowu Electoral Area, Hon. Paul Kwaw Yankee of Kikam, Hon. Francis Awuah of Anwia Teleku-Bokazo, Hon. Francis Kwaw Mensah of Nkroful, and Hon. Patrick Assuah of Ankobra, all of whom reiterated their commitment to peace and stability within their respective communities.
