Ayekotse Chief Visits Parliament, Praises Suhum MP’s Development Efforts
Barima Dr. Ayekotse Teinor, a distinguished traditional leader of Ayekotse in the Suhum Municipality of the Eastern Region, has paid a visit to Parliament to acquaint himself with the workings of Ghana’s legislative arm and gain firsthand insight into the responsibilities of Members of Parliament.
During his visit on Friday, May 29, 2026, the chief observed parliamentary proceedings and engaged with lawmakers to better understand the legislative process.
Speaking to journalists after the visit, Barima Dr. Ayekotse Teinor noted that many Ghanaians often misunderstand the core functions of Members of Parliament, largely associating their work with the construction of roads, schools, and hospitals.
He explained that the primary responsibility of MPs is lawmaking, oversight, and representation, adding that public education on the role of Parliament is necessary to strengthen democratic governance.
The traditional ruler commended the Member of Parliament for Suhum, Hon. Frank Asiedu Bekoe, for his commitment to improving the welfare of constituents through various social intervention initiatives and development advocacy.
According to the chief, the MP has demonstrated dedication to addressing community needs by lobbying government and stakeholders for critical development projects and social services within the short time he has been in parliament for the constituency.
