‘Shouting’ Unfounded Corruption Allegations Will Not Distract NDC’s Reset Agenda — Godwin Ako Gunn
The Deputy National Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Godwin Ako Gunn, has criticized the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for attempting to use “unfounded” corruption allegations as a political smokescreen.
In a sharp rebuttal write up on recent attacks on the president , he suggested that the NPP remains stunned by their political standing and is desperately “shouting corruption” to regain public favour.
Ako Gunn urged NDC members to remain composed and focused, noting that the Ghanaian electorate is more interested in genuine solutions than partisan bickering.
He described the NPP’s tactics as a classic case of “the pot calling the kettle black,” pointing to the contrast between their current accusations and their own track record in office.
”It is funny that the NPP is still not sure of the reasons for their loss and think by shouting corruption everywhere, it will endear them to the people of Ghana to get them back to power,” Ako Gunn stated.
“Sometimes it can be irritating listening to people who sold fertilizers with inscriptions ‘NOT FOR SALE’ telling cocoa farmers they are more committed to than the NDC.”
He further questioned the credibility of the NPP’s claims, highlighting their inability to account for major initiatives like the Gold for Oil program while simultaneously accusing state institutions of misconduct.
“Imagine a group of connection men, who couldn’t account for their Gold for Oil program, accusing the Bank of Ghana and GOLD BOD of selling Ghana’s gold,” he remarked.
“Today, these same people are accusing the Minister of Roads of awarding contracts through sole sourcing, meanwhile 98% of their contract awards were through single source,” he stated.
Ako Gunn emphasized that the NDC’s priority is the “RESET” agenda led by President John Dramani Mahama, which aims to provide a fresh start for the nation.
He noted that the expectations of governing are far more demanding than the days in opposition and called for patience as the party delivers on its promises, stating, “He much is given, much is expected.”
“Let’s focus on our pledge to the people of Ghana and drive them along with our efforts to RESET this nation. This would be the only way to kill their efforts to throw dust in the eyes of the Ghanaian,” he stated.
The NDC RESET Agenda: Fighting Corruption and Driving Development
Under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama, the NDC has outlined a comprehensive RESET Agenda designed to restore integrity to governance and spark an economic transformation. Central to this vision is a “ruthless” war against corruption and a shift toward a 24-hour economy.
A New Standard for Accountability
President Mahama’s second term is anchored on the “Operation-Recover-All-Loot” initiative, which seeks to investigate and recover state assets lost to corruption.
The NDC has pledged to reduce the size of government to no more than 60 ministers to curb wasteful spending.

Additionally, the party plans to establish an Independent Value for Money office to scrutinize all government procurements above a specific threshold, ensuring that sole-sourcing—a practice Ako Gunn criticized the NPP for abusing—is strictly regulated.
Economic Transformation and the 24-Hour Economy
To improve the lives of Ghanaians, the RESET agenda introduces the 24-Hour Economy policy, designed to encourage businesses to operate on a three-shift system.
This is intended to boost productivity, create sustainable jobs for the youth, and maximize the use of existing infrastructure.
The NDC also plans to scrap “draconian” taxes such as the E-levy and the COVID-19 levy within the first 100 days to ease the high cost of doing business and provide relief to households.
Infrastructure and Social Inclusion
Development under the Mahama administration focuses on investing in productive sectors like manufacturing and agriculture.
The party’s blueprint includes the “Big Push” for infrastructure, which aims to complete abandoned projects and initiate new high-priority developments to link rural farms to urban markets.
By fostering a climate of transparency and economic stability, the NDC aims to move Ghana away from the “socio-economic quagmire” and toward a trajectory of national revival.
